About JPC
Jacksonville Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. We belong to Monmouth Presbytery. The church building is located at the cross roads in Jacksonville, Springfield township, Burlington county, New Jersey. The sanctuary was built in 1871. The building now includes a fellowship hall and Sunday school wing. The manse, where the pastor and his family live, is next door to the church.
The congregation has approximately one hundred members. We take seriously the Bible’s admonition to love one another, we support one another in good times and difficult times, we are friendly, open, and caring to all who enter our doors. Most of our members live within a ten-mile radius of the church building. We range in age from infants to senior citizens. Congregants have many different vocations. Many are school-aged, participating in pre-school, elementary school, middle school, senior high, college, and graduate school. Other members are engaged in a variety of tasks including construction, education, business, farming, transportation, the military and health care. Most of us have family responsibilities. We serve the communities in which we live in a variety of ways.
Jacksonville Presbyterian Church offers a variety of activities for growth and service in the Christian life. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 for corporate worship. Our worship service is focused around the reading and proclamation of the Word. The Word is proclaimed through Sermons and children’s sermons, skits, music, prayer, offerings, and the monthly celebration of the Lord’s Supper. There are many opportunities for worship leadership open to the congregation, including singing in the adult or children’s choirs, ushering, leading the liturgy, and preaching. We have a number of different opportunities available for small group participation including youth group, a women’s book club, the choir, and Sunday school classes for all ages. We are involved in several local efforts to provide care to those in need, including a monthly commitment of resources and volunteers to the Christian Caring Center in Brown’s Mills.
